Day 7: Fréjus - Aix-en-Provence

The plan we made for today looked too ambitious: 130 kilometers from Frejus to Aix-en-Provencea. There isn’t much hills, Aix en PCE should be one very nice little town. It is sunny and still not to hot, and by our modest conditions it is perfect for “a long day in the saddle”.

And really, because around 12h we have already been on half of our way, because we started at 8AM, we were rested and prepared for another 65km. And so we stopped by at our favorite supermarket which we see occasionally by the way, and it has the most tasteful cooked food.

He: You’ll give that cooked white also She: You will give me that cooked red one

Cooked white supposed to be something like pork in some kind of super delicious sauce, while cooked red would be stuffed squid. 👄 It would be unnecessary to mention that besides of that we bought grapes and chocolate milk.

And then…. and then…. When we just finished our lunch on the roadside of our favorite supermarket’s parking lot, some retrograde part of cosmos affected again that black clouds surround everything we see, and the strong wind started to blow. It lasted for the next 15 minutes which we spent under the roof on the parking. Slowly it started to rain, and because everything suggested that it will stay like that for another few hours, we dressed up in our rain coats, and, as quick as we could, we came down to the nearest town with train station - 8km from there.

Fine lady at the station gave us a discount for tickets (because we said, in perfect French ✓, that we ate 24 years old), and so the two of us and two bicycles were on the road to the Marseille and to the Ex an Provence for hour and a half.

Endlessly charming student town with colorful houses made of stone, universities of languages and art, full of relaxed young people who, just as the students around the world, drink their wine at Wednesday in order to make through the long second half of the week in the examination period. We also drank ours in order to make through that beautiful town.
